Developing winter films
Careful with film developing for winter scenes.
Image above was taken last winter. Taking lens was restored Minolta MC W.Rokkor-SI 28 f2.5 wide angle and film was Konica color negative. Film frame was digitized using Canon digital camera and enlarger lens setup.
Color negative film captured low contrast winter scene with precious high quality film look. However, when inspected more carefully some varying of hues could be seen across the image degrading the scene slightly. Color variation was found to be on the film frame rather than scanning process, so the first suspect was the film stock that had been expired recently. Some more analysis could point the finger on minilab film development which is a low cost and fast way to get film developed.
More controlled professional film development solves the problem of varying hues and is mandatory for scenes with uniform color like winter scenes.
